This community is only ten minutes west of Denver and 50 minutes from DIA and is located in the center of Lakewood. Lakewood features their new "downtown", and the focal point is the large 22-block extravagant dining, shopping, events and office center. All this is located on the SE corner of Wadsworth Blvd & Alameda Avenue. This was formerly called Villa Italia Mall that had been in existence for 35 years, but now has been converted into a Europeansque village. You will now find a variety of eateries, stores and luxurious lofts that rise above the avenues. There are nearly 1300 homes for sale or rent. For walking convenience, there is a Whole Foods market and a movie theater in very close proximity.
The area sits in the center of rich history. Before Villa Italia, wealthy Denver families got away to live in the countryside. The most extravagant was May Bonfills' home - the Denver heiress. The home was eventually torn down in the '70's, and has had some extensive changes including the arts, cultural and commercial/retail renaissance.
Price per square foot - $175-$297 with finished per sq ft from $102-$223. There are homes that command even higher per square footage up to $420,000.
