The first settlement in this area around Castle Pines was the Arapaho and Cheyenne Native American tribes. Gold brought prospectors and land was opened through the Homestead Act of 1862. Travelers were able to commute to Castle Pines via the Daniel Park Trail, which would enable travelers to commute from Denver to Colorado Springs. There is Castle Pines North & Castle Pines Village which began development in the early '80's. This is when the Castle Pines Golf Course was opened, and today hosts the International Golf Tournament.

There are approximately 10,000 homeowners in the Castle Pines neighborhood. There is over 560 acres of open space and 13 miles of open trails. This is located in an unincorporated area of Douglas County which has a Castle Rock address.
